This is a summary of some of the updates made to cat-v.org sites. For Plan 9, Inferno and 9p news see NineTimes. Note that this is only a partial list, usually I’m too lazy to update it when I update something else O:)
- 2022/04/12: Added troff reconstruction of Unix Edition Zero by David Lind.
- 2021/04/09: Added man pages for additional historical releases of Plan 9, Inferno, 9atom, clive, etc.
- 2017/11/29: Added helpful.cat-v.org site.
- 2017/02/12: Added UNIX V6 Operating Systems lecture notes from Berufsakademie Stuttgart.
- 2016/10/18: Added new 9p implementations.
- 2016/10/01: Added man pages for additional releases of Research UNIX.
- 2016/03/30: Added Unix v7 Manual pages.
- 2015/11/28: Added Unix Edition Zero.

- 2013/12/23: Added complete version of Program Design in the UNIX Environment.

- 2012/11/??: Misc. small updates and corrections. Move from Linode to 9cloud.
- 2012/09/10: A new project in the repo: CGD, an HTTP and FastCGI daemon to run CGI programs. Particularly useful to run werc with nginx.
- 2012/??/??: More updates too lazy to list here. Mostly in the Go, Harmful, Genius and Quotes sections, and probably more I forgot.
- 2011/10/03: Updated and expanded symlinks page.
- 2011/??/??: Many updates, too lazy to keep track.
- 2011/01/28: Started a page on so called “organic” food.
- 2011/01/06: Unix v6 Manual pages.
- 2010/XX/XX: Many things that I was too lazy to write down.
- 2010/05/XX: Many new and updated ‘harmful’ pages: MIME, Linus loves C++, Diagnosing Subversion, gnome is user unfriendly, Ruby has the performance of a drunken slug, and many more.
- 2010/05/20: A new page dedicated to the writings of the inimitable Mark V. Shaney, including a recently re-discovered Plan 9 FAQ.
- 2010/05/02: Recovered from the Scary Devil Monastery the list of operating sytems that suck.
- 2010/02/19: Words can be harmful, but not in the way censors like to think. And as usual, George Orwell said it first.
- 2010/02/16: Added many new Go packages.
- 2010/02/14: Start of two new harmful pages about dynamic linking and versioned symbols.
- 1010/01/11: Created two new ‘whole new sections’ (still mostly stubs) of harmful stuff: Political Correctness and Security Theater.
- 2009/12/14: More harmful stuff. Mirror The S stands for Simple about SOAP, but if you ask me, the ’S' in SOAP stands for something else…
- 2009/12/13: The Glenda’s picture gallery now includes a pic of Gangster Glenda by Mike Cecere. Thanks!
- 2009/12/12: Subversion Sucks.
- 2009/12/11: Add John Perry Barlow’s Declaration of the Independence of Cyberspace to the political science section of the doc archive.
- 2009/12/08: Announcing the discoverty of Planet 5 from Go Space, an aggregator of Go-related blogs, similar to Planet 9.
- 2009/12/07: Many additions to the programming quotes file.
- 2009/12/04: Many fixes and cleanups to the doc and man page archives.
- 2009/11/28: Fixes and improvements to the HTML version of the Unix 1st Edtion manual pages.
- 2009/11/22: My good old friend boyd now has his own cat-v domain.
- 2009/11/17: Many more Go goodies, for example: Go lib bindings and list of libraries written in Go.
- 2009/11/14: Add Gordon to the list of Glenda’s friends.
- 2009/11/12: New site dedicated to the Go programming language. Including a search engine.
- 2009/11/10: The original essay form The Economist describing Parkinson’s Law.
- 2009/10/21: HTML-fied version of the Unix First Edition Manual Pages, based on OCRd PostScript, which means some (much?) of the formatting is lost, but most of the content should be readable and useful enough.
- 2009/10/19: Finally got around generating the html version of the fossil paper, no idea why it took me so long!
- 2009/10/18: Clean up and update the update log itself.
- 2009/10/18: Manual pages for Octopus.
- 2009/10/18: First experiment with the ‘flip’ werc app by yiyus to display PDFs.
- 2009/10/17: Added the (draft) paper about a DHT-based Venti.
- 2009/10/16: Started to set the groundwork for ‘Hotel Genius’, pages for ken, dmr and bwk are already up.
- 2009/10/07: New atrack release and new site for trackon.
- 2009/09/14: The iminent demise of geocities has pushed me to setup something I had planned for a long time: a site to display a collection of ancient web artifacts.
- 2009/09/14: Updated all cat-v.org sites to the latest Werc 1.2 release, please report any issues you might notice after the change..
- 2009/09/11: Add pydocs for snake-steak.
- 2009/09/08: Atrack is a tracker designed to run on Google’s App Engine.
- 2009/08/02: Marvin, the Reddit Paranoid Android for Google Chrome, has a new home, with new decoration.
- 2009/08/02: New page listing some of the many reasons why symlinks suck.
- 2009/08/02: Henry Spencer’s awf (Amazingly Workable Formatter), thanks yiyus for the heads up!
- 2009/08/01: Thanks to Fish’s contribution the manuals for Unix 8th Edition and even the Unix Writer’s Workbench are now avaliable!
- 2009/07/31: Mirrored an ancient Byte Magazine article about Limbo Programming by Larry Rau.
- 2009/07/22: The the Bell Labs http interface to sources down again, so I moved the mirror of Charles’s excellent paper The Ubiquitous File Server from my contrib dir to the doc archive, the 9P documentation page that links to it also has got some updates.
- 2009/07/15: New versions of two packages: Werc 1.0 is out at last, and a bugfix release of Snake Steak 0.4.
- 2009/07/11: ‘Why Some Dead OSes Still matter’ login article by Andrey Mirtchovski and Latchesar Ionkov of LANL.
- 2009/07/10: A new mini-site dedicated to the sam text editor and related resources. The Acme site has also been updated.
- 2009/06/24: Created <quotes.cat-v.org>, including a programming quotes section.
- 2009/06/24: A new site dedicated to the traditional Unix keybindings and how to get them to work in other alient environments.
- 2009/06/12: Recovered domain from web-squatters! Cat-v.com points now to cat-v.org. Yay!
- 2009/06/10: Two new projects: Snake Steak - a python client library for the new JSON freshmeat API, and Marvin - a Google Chrome extension for redditors (part of the Burning Chrome efforts).
- 2009/06/02: Audio recordings from a couple of talks at the third IWP9, and initial page for the IWP9 2009 at Athens, GA.
- 2009/06/01: HTTP 0.2 is proposal for a new simplified subset of the HTTP standard.
- 2009/05/30: Various additions to Glenda’s friends page, in particular some weird ‘OS-tan’ drawins.
- 2009/05/27: Add the Plan B 4th Edition manual pages.
- 2009/05/06: Added Foundation storage paper.
- 2009/04/06: New mini-site about the Acme text editor.
- 2009/03/04: Added papers and other documents about Plan 9 on IBM’s Blue Gene supercomputers.
- 2008/12/16: Added the paper: Window Systems Should Be Transparent by Rob Pike.
- 2008/12/15: Added the paper: A Concurrent Window System by Rob Pike.
- 2008/12/10: Upgraded to the latest version of werc.
- 2008/12/02: Added Why Pascal is Not My Favorite Programming Language by Brian W. Kernighan.
- 2008/12/01: Created a first About cat-v.org page.
- 2008/11/25: Added a new quote to the Java page.
- 2008/11/24: Two new papers in the newly cleaned up Bell Labs section: The Hideous Name by Rob Pike and P.J. Weinberger and Douglas McIlroy’s mesmerizing paper on playing with CSP: Squinting at Power Series.
- 2008/11/21: Added a paper/tutorial by Pietro Gagliardi: C Programming in Plan 9 from Bell Labs.
- 2008/11/14: A new ‘humour’ section of the Plan 9 doc archive, including the The Dead OS Sketch.
- 2008/10/28: Started to markdown-ize Milton Friedman’s landmark work: Essays in Positive Economics.
- 2008/10/28: Added a complete book to the Inferno section, Phillip Stanley-Marbell’s excellent Inferno Programming with Limbo.
- 2008/10/21: Added to the Bell Labs section a tutorial on the Sam editor language by Rob Pike.
- 2008/10/18: Rescued a great collection of Russian translations of Plan 9 documents and papers found while digging around archive.org.
- 2008/10/18: New releases of ‘releaser’ and ‘werc’.
- 2008/10/18: Planet 9 now has an Atom feed. If you know of any other 9fan’s blogs, please let me know so I can expand the blogroll!
- 2008/10/10: Moved from the hosting generously donated by garbeam to one of Linode’s great servers. As usual, if you notice any issues with the site please let me know: uriel99.gmail.com
- 2008/09/30: After a long time, the author names of blog posts have been corrected, sorry for the inconvenience (this required some changes to werc).
- 2008/09/29: The whole cat-v.org site upgraded to a pre-release version of the werc content management system, it includes many improvements, like better sitemap generation and blog handling, including experimental support for blog comments!
- 2008/09/28: Opened up the papers section for IWP9 2008 with a paper on a new Plan 9 trace device.
- 2008/09/22: Added a high quality pdf of the ‘Using Inferno to Execute Java TM on Small Devices’ paper.
- 2008/09/21: Added two new projects to the list of 9P implementations: NPFS/SPFS and Duat.
- 2008/09/21: New document in the economics section: Bar Stool Economics.
- 2008/09/20: Starting up the papers section for this year’s IWP9.
- 2008/09/11: New werc point release 0.9.1, getting closer to 1.0; cat-v.org upgraded too use it.
- 2008/09/10: Added Microsoft Windows and MacOS X icons and Magic 9-Ball to the toys section.
- 2008/09/08: Experimental aggregator (‘planet’) of blogs by people related to Plan 9 and/or Inferno, suggestions for extra feeds to add to the roll are welcome.
- 2008/09/04: Added a few more pictures of Glenda to the gallery, thanks to Harka Gyozo.
- 2008/09/02: Added a new paper paper to document archive: ‘How to Write a Plan 9 Manual Page’.
- 2008/08/31: Released a new version of the werc content management system, the cat-v.org server has been upgraded to the latest werc version. please report any issues you might find.
- 2008/08/26: Minor updates and corrections to the article against government sponsored (gay) marriage.
